“3000 Runs Behind Kohli,” Glenn Maxwell Teases Virat As He Completes 7K Runs In T20 Format

Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, has been performing pretty well in the IPL 2021 and it won’t be wrong to say that his performance has improved a lot in the league after he has started playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In yesterday’s match which was played between RCB and Rajasthan Royals, Glenn Maxwell played a blistering knock of 50 runs not out for which he played only 30 deliveries and his innings included 6 fours & 1 six. With this, he not only helped his team in winning the match but also completed his 7,000 runs in the T20 format.

Though the 69-run partnership between Maxwell and KS Bharat played a significant role in the team’s win, the player of the match award went to Yuzvendra Chahal for his superb bowling as he took 2 wickets in his 4 overs and gave only 18 runs at the economy rate of 4.50.

In the team meeting which took place after the match, Glenn Maxwell was having some fun as he was heard saying that he is just 3,000 runs behind skipper Virat Kohli in terms of runs scored in the T20 format as the Indian skipper has scored 10,000 runs in this format.

Glenn Maxwell stated that the team played well especially the manner in which RCB made a comeback after Ewin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a great start to Rajasthan Royals. The Aussie player also praised KS Bharat for his batting and called him a genuine top-order batsman.

As far as the match is concerned, RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first in the match which was played at Dubai International Stadium. Though Ewin Lewis (58) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (31) gave a good start to RR, no other batsman was able to carry on the momentum and the team managed only 149/9 in the stipulated 20 overs.

In response, RCB had a steady start as Virat Kohli (25) and Devdutt Padikkal (22) produced a 48-run partnership for the first wicket and after that Srikar Bharat (44) and Glenn Maxwell (50) ensured that their team ended up as winners.

While RR is at the seventh position with 4 wins and 7 defeats in 11 matches, RCB is at the third position with 7 wins and 4 defeats in 11 matches.

It will be interesting to see if Virat Kohli’s RCB will be able to lift its first ever IPL trophy this year! This IPL is more important for RCB fans as it is the last IPL of Virat as the RCB skipper and he has already made an announcement about quitting captaincy post the IPL 2021 so fans desperately want to see the trophy in Kohli’s hand.
