Acid Attack Survivor Seeks Help From Shah Rukh Khan After She Was Denied A Bank Account

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar is one of the most loved actors of the Indian film industry and he is loved not just because of his acting skills but also for the philanthropy activities that he does. SRK has an NGO named Meer Foundation which is named after his father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan. It works towards the rehabilitation of acid attack survivors and the NGO also pays for surgeries of the victims.

An acid attack survivor contacted Shah Rukh Khan and his NGO because she was not allowed to open a bank account as she was not able to blink for completing the KYC process. The name of the acid attack survivor is Pragya Prasun Singh and she wanted to open an account in ICICI Bank but she wasn’t able to do it as now there is a new requirement that the account holder has to blink during the video or live photo and Pragya is not able to blink her eyes because of the acid attack on her.

Pragya took to Twitter and wrote, “Being an acid attack survivor shouldn’t prohibit me from living a dignified life. It’s unjust that I was denied a bank a/c because I can’t blink for the KYC process. Requesting @iamsrk @MeerFoundation to help me make this world inclusive for acid attack survivors #Iwontblink”

Soon she got support of online users and she also got suggestions to tag the Reserve Bank of India and the Indian finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her tweet and one user also suggested her write a petition to the Prime Minister Office in this regard.

Pragya herself runs an NGO named Atijeevan Foundation which helps acid attack survivors, till now the foundation has helped more than 250 survivors and she has been awarded with Nari Shakti Puraskar by the Government of India in 2019.

As of now, SRK and Meer Foundation haven’t responded to Pragya’s tweet, we also support Pragya in this regard as a physical condition should not stop a person from living a normal life.
