Woman’s Tweet About Engineer Cab Driver Earning More By Driving Than From His MNC Job Goes Viral
The Indians are taught from childhood that if we want to live a happy and successful life, then we need to study hard and get a good job. In fact if you remember, during our school days, our teachers used to say that if we don’t study properly then we may end up selling samosas, driving taxi, etc. What is more surprising is that we are also taught that no work is big or small and you should feel proud in whatever you do.
Blue collar jobs were not considered good in the older days, though things have changed a little, still many people consider blue collar jobs as low grade jobs but with the advent of social media networks, we are getting to know more about these jobs and the earnings that blue collar workers make. If you remember, couple of years back, there was a report in newspapers that some paan sellers from Uttar Pradesh bought land worth crores and it left many of us in a shocked state.
Recently, a Twitter user made a tweet in which she stated that she met a cab driver who was an engineer and he is earning better than his corporate job. The name of the online user is Shweta Kukreja and she tweeted, “I was in a cab yesterday and that driver was an engineer. He said he earns more from the cab driving than his corporate job at Qualcomm.”
I was in a cab yesterday and that driver was an engineer.
He said he earns more from the cab driving than his corporate job at Qualcomm.

Soon the other online users also started sharing their own stories and experiences and there were some who didn’t agree with her. Here are some selected tweets:
I met one Tea Seller and Golgappa seller on Road which is owned by a Software Developer in Bengaluru.
He told Software Development is part time for him— HousePerSqft.com (@housepersqft) August 6, 2023
May be he owns a bunch of cars and hired drivers for those…. that's the only possibility, having a single cab may not give him more income than a software engineer in Bangalore as there's lot of competition there as well in cabs and more over there's wfh and hybrid for IT ppl.!

Being an engineer, nowadays, particularly in India is no guarantee for a good job.
We have associated some jobs with shame and termed them as low quality.
Going forward job market is going to be further challenging.
Those who can adjust with the new realities would be better…

To the people who think it is impossible, I met a cab driver who left his Tech job because it wasn't paying much.

I worked in GGN between 2010-13. The tea shop owner was a $ millionaire then. Was selling tea for c.10 years. @Mohit_IndiAb

That’s fair. Driving a cab is not an easy job. If they drive safely and remain punctual, they get better ratings, recognition, and earning.
Their ability of taking better on-the-spot decisions to avoid an accident is also remarkable comparing to any corporate employees.

Sad reality but true
My cousin is also the same example as him.
I know how he feels.— Harkamal Singh (@LotusOfGod) August 8, 2023
It is not about earning money always. To earn extra few bucks he has to go through all the traffic and pollution everyday over sitting in an office or at home and attending meetings.

I once talked to a momo wala who said he makes 2Lakh after profit
Per month— Saurabh Kumar (@drummatick) August 6, 2023
A momo wala can make good money depending on where the stall is located but it's impossible for a cab driver to earn more than an engineer at Qualcomm.https://t.co/bYfL9EQp7p

Well, we may form opinions just by listening to one good example but not every cab driver, golgappa seller, paan vendor or momo seller must be earning that good because their earnings are dependent on many reasons and besides that, there is a huge competition in all these segments as well.
So the bottom-line is – whatever you do give your 100 percent in it all the time and success will come towards you.
