A video from Mumbai is going viral on the Internet in which a female bike rider without a helmet is seen abusing the traffic officials. As per the reports, the incident took place on 15 September 2023 and the name of the girl is Nupur Patel. The 26 years old girl was riding the bike on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link where two-wheelers are not allowed.

When the security staff informed the traffic police that a girl on Royal Enfield is heading towards south Mumbai, the traffic police staff got into action and they went and stopped her but Nupur was in mood to take her bike towards the side of the road. She then started threatening and abusing the traffic police staff and said that her father owns the road and as she is a taxpayer, she can drive anywhere she wants. Nupur also threw a gun shaped cigarette lighter on the police staff and threatened to hit them with the bike.

The girl is said to be from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, she is currently working as an architect intern in a real estate firm and was visiting Pune where her brother lives. She wanted to see the Bandra-Worli Sea Link so she took her brother’s bike for the trip.

Nupur Patel was arrested and booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including sec 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), sec 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), sec 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and sec 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others). She was also booked under relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and was allowed to go after a notice under Sec 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was given to her. This notice implies that she has to appear before an investigating officer when she is asked to do so.
